Almost always, the answer is no, there is no interchangeability between different brands - and often limited interchangeability within a brand.

Of the freehub bodies out there, there are a number of different types, different types have different benefits but mainly are simply a matter of compatibility with the appropriate groupset you run on your bicycle.
Are Shimano and SRAM freehub compatibility?
Buyers are free to use a SRAM chain and cassette with their Shimano groupset, and vice versa, just as a SRAM chain can be paired with a Shimano cassette, and vice versa. SRAM's cassettes and chains are compatible with all of Shimano's groupsets, and vice versa.
Can I put any freehub on my hub?
Each brand and model of hub uses its own freehub body to hub interface. If you need to change your freehub body, you will need to get the same brand and model. You cannot mix-n-match freehub bodies from different brands. They will not work.
Can I upgrade my freehub?
Yes. You can replace just the hub, but you'll likely need new spokes, and a decent mechanic will charge $50+ for the job. Unless you have a really nice rim, that's not worth it. Buying a new wheel makes more sense.

more pawls means, at least theoretically, a more solid engagement. increasing the number of pawls does not increase the number of points of engagement nor does it make the does it decrease the distance you have to ratchet back to find the next point of engagement.

Are MTB wheel hubs interchangeable?
The short answer to this query is “yes, but you may need to buy new spokes and nipples.” Spokes need to be cut within a tight tolerance to properly fit their position in the wheel system and provide long-term strength. You can use an odd-sized spoke to get by in a pinch, but for a full build, things become trickier.
Are Mavic Freehubs interchangeable?
ID360 is a ratchet freehub system designed and manufactured by Mavic. Brought to road and gravel in 2016, this system was adopted for the first time on MTB wheels in 2018. ID360 is stiff and durable while benefiting from faster engagement. The interchangeability of the freehub is one of the best features.
Is ratchet better than pawls?
The swiftness of engagement might not make much difference for real-world riding, but a hub failure is terminal, for any ride. If you like the idea of home maintenance, a star ratchet system is easier to keep in working order. For those wanting rapid engagement, pawl systems are currently still the way to go.
